ChildrenAges Birth to 5th Grade
Young readers can explore the night this summer as Montgomery County Libraries present "Dream Big - READ!" during their summer reading program. Activities may include programs on stargazing and moon lore, dreams and wishes, space exploration, nocturnal animals, an evening pajama storytime, and more. The Dream Big summer reading program is open to young people, birth to 12, with programs, prize drawings, story hours, and more. Go to your neighborhood library’s website to learn more.
TeensGrades 6th - 12th
Area teens are encouraged to participate in "Own the Night," the teen summer reading program for all
Montgomery County libraries. Teens are invited to come to the library and read for prizes as well as
take part in special events offered throughout the summer.Visit your local
public library to see if you can sign up online and for a listing of
the great events you can attend.
This year the Montgomery County Library system is continuing their partnership with Verizon by offering
Thinkfinity Literacy Labs in libraries across the County. The Thinkfinity Literacy Lab is equipped with
great hands-on activities for pre-readers that help develop early literacy skills through reading, writing,
signing, talking and playing. Activities such as puppet play, alphabet games, letter stamping and sorting,
music making and puzzles will be available in the lab for children to explore. The labs will also feature
online literacy games through the Thinkfinity website. For more information, call your local library or
