Congratulations, Robbie!
Upper Dublin Library employee Robbie Fischer earned his MLIS from Valdosta State University this summer.
Congratulations, Robbie, on this wonderful accomplishment!
Robbie has worked in the Children’s department at UDPL as a programming librarian for the last year while completing his degree.
When asked about Fischer’s achievement, UDPL Director Cheri Fiory said, “We’re proud of you, Robbie, and wish you continued success in your career!”
Robbie says, “I’m very grateful for the support along the way, particularly from my former coworkers at Indian Valley Public Library, my current coworkers at Upper Dublin Library, and everyone I know through PaLA who encouraged me as well. Special shoutout to Anny Laepple, Amber Osborne, and Carrie Sturgill for their individual assistance with some projects!
“I was fortunate to receive an MLIS Scholarship from PaLA in 2024, which was a huge help in taking this next step in my career. If anybody is exploring pursuing their MLIS, I would certainly recommend applying for this scholarship. I would also be happy to chat and offer support however else I can!
“I drew a lot on my PaLA experiences in my coursework, such as my PALS experiences during my “Leadership in Libraries” course (though I bet not every state library association has food as good as we get at PALS!). I’m very glad to have already had so many opportunities through PaLA to enrich my career, and I’m looking forward to many more!”
