The Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) of Cheltenham Township has awarded a Sustainable Cheltenham Award to Elizabeth McGoran and the Cheltenham Township Library System.
McGoran is the Head Librarian at the Elkins Park Library branch of CTLS. The award is in recognition of the sustainability efforts enacted by McGoran, her staff, and the library system. Among the initiatives, Elkins Park has replaced all their receipt paper with BPA-free paper, created a popular Library of Things collection, and began a puzzle swap for patrons. Cheltenham recognizes the efforts as supporting their goals of Healthy Living for All and Waste Reduction.
When asked about sustainability, Elizabeth McGoran is quoted as saying, “Giving yourself permission to bring a sustainability lens to all of your choices can allow you to do small things while developing a perspective that informs everything you do.”
Congratulations to Elizabeth, the staff at Elkins Park Library, and the Cheltenham Township Library System on this well-deserved accolade!
